I'm Maddie D. and this is my English blog. I expect English class to have an amount of writing in it, and also a lot of reading. I'm sure there are going to be projects and different books with different themes that we are going to read intermittently during the year. I also expect these blog posts every week, but I will have to get used to that. I'm not sure what else to expect from this class, but I hope that some of my skills can get better throughout the year.
Some goals that I would like to achieve are, gaining sentence fluency, being organized with my thoughts (on the paper), and writing in a way that doesn't sound like a child wrote it. I have never understood sentence fluency, nor do I think I can understand it. When teachers told me in the past, "What you wrote doesn't really flow together" I never understood how to make it "flow together". When i'm writing and essay where each paragraph has a certain main topic, I ALWAYS get off topic and have to edit some things out of the paragraph. I struggle with organization skills. Last but not least, no writing like a child. I honestly don't have a big vocabulary, so when I write my paper doesn't sound like someone my age wrote it. It's terrible, and also the main thing that I would like to fix. Other than that i'm looking forward to the rest of the year, and can't wait to fix these problems!

  1. I have the same goals as you! When I write I don't want to sound like child. I want to have a diffrent mature writing voice. Also you metioned that you don't have a abundant vocabulary. When I wanted to sound smart I would find a "big word" in the dictionary I could use often and would use it for that day. So that way when I'm repeating it it stays in my brain.
